Healing service of Lorna Lisk at St. Ignatius Cathedral, Q.C., Philippines in
Feb. 2005, w/ Philippine Leaders fr. L. to R. Gen.Enri & Dr. Celia Bulan, priest
of SIC, Lorna Lisk, C. Cobangbang, Dr. E. Millan, Mina Reyes & This is also the primary reason for this column together with bestowing Him glory. Hebrews 13:11, indeed, states that Jesus is healing today as He did 2000 years ago. There are people given the gift of healing and miracles by the Holy Spirit to be His instruments. He marvelously manifests His living presence this way like He does in the Eucharist and by the action of the Holy Spirit.
People were converted to Him by His preaching and His healings and miracles. By our witness many people will continue to be drawn to Him and have the gift of salvation. We are commissioned to help finish Jesus’ mission of salvation for all.
A world of thanks to God for His following healings at the seven healing services of Lorna Lisk in the Philippines last February.
Report from Rosario, La Union, Philippines
By Hilaria Calonge and Linda Lachica
(After oral testimonies by attendees, healings were recorded.)
We thank and glorify God for healing one lady of blindness and two ladies of deafness. Five people were relieved of pain all over their bodies. There were 150 instant healings of pain in various parts of the bodies of a great many parishioners. Twenty six people with poor eyesight could see clearly. Seven hard of hearing could hear normally. One who was always urinating was healed by our Lord. The numbness in legs and fingers of three persons vanished. Six were relieved of dizziness. Someone’s swelling of the legs disappeared. A person who cannot move her wrist was able to move it. Another was relieved of cough and still another of nervousness. We also thank Lorna Lisk for doing the healing service at Immaculate Conception Church.

A NEW PENTECOST FOR THE CHURCH
By Rev. Rufus Pereira
(The following are excerpts with permission from ICCRS)
The Catholic Church prayed for a New Pentecost. Within a week (from papal election of 1958) Pope John XXIII electrified the whole Christian world by his utterances and actions. He did this in reality by calling for an Ecumenical Council, whose purpose….to take a three-pronged offensive towards Church Renewal, Christian unity, and World Peace. But what was remarkable in announcing the Vatican Council II on January 25, 1959….the Pope invited the Church to pray for the success of the Council, “o Holy Spirit…Renew Thy wonders in this our day as by a New Pentecost.
That prayer has been answered …by the 16 magnificent documents of the Vatican Council and by the 50 or so ecclesial movements that flooded St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City on May 31, 1998. The most widespread of them and the one having the greatest impact on the Church today is the Catholic Charisma-tic or …… Pentecostal Renewal. It surfaced from within the Church in 1967. Aimed ..to transform human hearts, the Charismatic Charismatic Renewal leads people , generally through a Life in the Spirit Seminar which is nothing else but the basic Gospel proclamation into what is called the “Baptism in the Holy Spirit.” This is a profound spiritual experience , through which one undergoes a personal conversion, has a personal encounter with Jesus as Savior and Lord, and experiences the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. This results in a total transformation of one’s life, including a new-found freedom from compulsive habits of sin, a deep healing of one’s emotional wounds and sometimes a deliverance from inexplicable evil forces, and consequently a relish for prayer and scripture, a new awareness of the power of the sacraments, reconciliation in relationships and an urge to be of service to the Church and society. The weekly Charismatic Prayer Meeting continues fanning this initial flame of the Spirit through spontaneous praise, Bible teaching, intercessory prayer, and fellowship.
Pope John Paul II exhorted the Church in his 1990 encyclical, The Mission of the Redeemer,…to
commit all of her energies to a New Evangelization.” (RM#2, RM#3).
MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDER–PRESIDENT
By Lorna Lisk
On September 2 we faxed President George W. Bush that he should ask for the prayers of Americans in the wake of the deadly catastrophe hurricane Katrina since on TV there was no mention of prayer. Thank God, on September 8, the birthday of Mary, he proclaimed September 16 the National Day of Prayer. We also asked him that food aid to poor nations be restored in view of a US proposal in UN to scrap said food aid in favor of democratization of other countries. We cited Jesus’ word that if we feed the hungry we have done it to Him. Praise God in about 10 days the above US proposals were rescinded.
We thank God and Pope John Paul II for the proclamation of 2004-2005 as the Year of the Eucharist. With Jesus being with the Father now, He wants to be with us spiritually and physically by the Holy Spirit and the Eucharist. He promised in Mt. 28:20, “I am with you always…” Since the liturgy of the Word accompanies the Eucharist at Mass, it is fitting that the Year of God’s Word follows the Year of the Eucharist. Worldwide United Prayer for Christ faxed a proposal to Pope Benedict XVI to this effect. Please pray for this.
Jesus preached the Word and performed healings and miracles to make people believe in Him, draw them to His kingdom and give them the gift of eternal life and happiness.
In my book “Boost Your Prayer Power” (see page 4), the scripture shows us how to have the abundant life (John 10:10), how to have a holy, joyful, successful, healthy life and loving relationships. John 15:7 states, “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want and it will be done for you.”
God’s Word, the Sword of the Spirit is essential to combat the rampant evil (Ephes. 6:17) of today.
We need to make the Word a part of us to effectively evangelize.
A vital part of evangelization is to discern the wiles of the enemy.
God is being removed from our country and there is de-Christianization going on in US and Europe. Nearly two thirds of Christians in US do not attend church and, hence, do not have a relationship with Him. Church non-attendance in France is about 80%, England, 75%, and Sweden, 96%.
Political Correctness - Recently, to be politically correct, many Christians are reluctant to greet others or send cards saying Merry Christmas for fear of offending non-Christians or atheists. However, December 25 is a national holiday for this 85% Christian nation celebrating Christmas Day, the day Christ was born. I do not think a non-Christian or atheist would sue someone because of a Christmas greeting. If they don’t want to return the greeting they can remain silent or can say “Happy Holidays.”
In addition to the above dim statistics, students are already not allowed to say prayer in public schools.. Courts rule that Ten Commandments cannot be displayed in public places. Attempts have been made to remove the word “God” from the Pledge of Allegiance. We should not voluntarily give up our Christian rights, lose our Christianity and bear the evil consequences. We are already suffering the deleterious effects of de-Christianization of very high suicide rates especially among children who do not know God; of people killing their families, culture of death, gay marriage, rapid moral decay and numerous other evil.
Among the very easy ways of restoring God in our country and in our hearts is to greet as many people as you can, “God bless you” and “Have a blessed day.” Mention “thank God” and “I will pray for you” (when one mentions his problems). It might take a long time for most people to return your same greeting, but it will take root. Annex “God bless you” to your recorded home answering machine greeting. Wear your Cross necklaces daily. The Bible states that our Father will reward you for magnifying His name. My book “Boost Your Power” (see page 4) covers more of the above.
The Good News is the swift increase of people coming to Christ in Africa, South America and Asia.
Prayer Works! – We praise the Holy Spirit for the democratization in Ukraine, Georgia, Afghanistan, Iraq; freedom of Lebanon from Syrian troops, Libya – out of WMD, halting of suicide bombings in Israel and Palestine; termination of partial birth abortion in US and many others.
Fervent daily prayers are needed for no bird flu pandemic, end of terrorism and nuclear threat, end of abortion, gay marriage, decrease of moral decay, crime, many calamities and increase in vocations to priesthood and religious life.
TESTIMONY ON THE MIRACLE PRAYER
By Levelyn Hong
Last April, 2004 I had cyst in my ovary which was very painful. I could hardly get up. The doctor said I needed to be operated right away. It was big, about 1-1/2 inches in diameter. But I could not afford the surgery which cost 40,000 pesos. So I prayed the MIRACLE PRAYER many times a day, every day for one month. Then I noticed that the pain was almost gone. Now I very rarely have pain and if I have it it is very slight and this happens when I run and when I’m very tired. I thank the Lord for healing me of my cyst. The Miracle Prayer is really very powerful.
MESSAGE FROM WUPC SPIRITUAL DIRECTOR
By Rev. James Coleman
Acts 6:7 states, “The word of God continued to spread and the number of disciples in Jerusalem increased greatly, even to a large group of priests were being obedient to the faith. “ The word of God is key to bringing many people to God’s kingdom and also of increasing the number of youth entering the vocation to the priesthood and consecrated religious life. It is also key in making priests faithful disciples of Jesus Christ and being more empowered to serve Him for His glory.
People should be reading the Bible at least 15 minutes a day and also attending Bible studies if offered in their parishes. The scriptures that we read and hear at masses should also become a part of us. John 15:7 says, “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want and it will be done for you.”
